BIOGRAPHYAssoc. Professor Dr. Stanislav Petrik is the Head of the Department of Nanostructure Preparation and Analysis at the Institute for Nanomaterials, Advanced Technologies & Innovation, Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic.
Dr. Petrik led research and development department at company ELMARCO till January 2009, when he started to focus mainly to creation relations and new research and business opportunities between academic and industrial institutions. He significantly participated in the process of commercialization of Nanospider™ technology, especially in setting up company’s subsidiary in the USA, and in the global business development for this technology. Since January 2012, he is engaged mainly in commercialization of research and development result and technology transfer of the Technical University of Liberec. His current main research interests are in research and development of new nanostructured and nanofiber materials and their applications for filtration, separation and sensor systems, especially for biomedical application and environment protection.
Stanislav Petrík had been active in research and development of fiber optic sensors during his appointment at the Technical University in Košice, Slovakia (assistant professor, 1983-1990), National Polytechnic Institute in Grenoble, France (guest professor, 1990-1991) and University of Erlangen, Germany (A. von Humboldt Research Fellow, 1991-1992). Before joining ELMARCO in 2006, he led RD department in Preciosa a.s. company dealing with technologies of grinding and polishing and laboratory and production quality evaluation of glass surface.
Dr. Petrik is the (co)author of 1 monography, 2 chapters in monographies, over 50 refereed papers, editor of 2 international conference proceedings (NART 2015 and 2017), 5 invited lectures at international conferences, and served as session chair and committee member/president of 7 international conferences.

A New Generation of Fine Fiber Processing for Filtration
Electrospun Filter Media for Gas and Liquid Filtration
The aim is to show various methods how we can use unique properties of electrospun nanofibers to reduce dangerous substances in combustion gas, atmospheric air and industrial liquids. The development focuses on nanofiber materials, functionalized polymers and specific fibril structures. Main relations between filter media parameters and final product properties were observed. The main research topics covered by the presentation are:
• Filtration of solid substances from atmospheric air in ventilation systems or for personal protection,
• Antimicrobial modification of atmospheric air filters,
• Cleaning hot or cold gaseous combustion products by using catalytic agents,
• Membrane filtration of different heavily polluted waste water,
• Purification of drinking and non-potable water using regenerable nanofibrous membranes or disposable cartridges with composite nanofiber yarn.
